Changelog
What changed, and whether it changes what you get. Releases that alter a seed's geometry or a response's shape are called out explicitly — those are the ones that can break your integration.
Last updated 1 September 2026
2.1.0 — 1 September 2026
- Gyroid and TPMS moved to surface nets. The old marching-cubes path produced manifolds with hairline cracks at low quality; the new implementation produces a watertight surface with consistent triangle counts. Not a determinism break — the seed and quality parameters are unchanged, so the family of forms is the same, but the exact vertex positions are.
- Quality is now clamped to 16–80 on every path. The Studio slider and the API enforce the same bounds, and out-of-range API values return
quality_out_of_rangerather than being silently coerced. - Added the
harmonic-torusgenerator. A third family, alongside superformula and gyroid.
2.0.0 — 12 August 2026
Breaking. A seed still produces the same model, but the response shape and the file outputs changed.
- Developer API launched at
/api/v1/models/generate, withx-artemaze-keyauthentication and one credit per generation. - Format support added:
format=jsonreturns flatposition, normal, uvandindexarrays;format=glbreturns a binary glTF 2.0 download. Both are new in this version — 1.x exported GLB and OBJ only from the browser. - Studio export modal with copy-ready snippets for React Three Fiber, vanilla three.js, and raw JSON buffers.
- Credit model changed to two pools. Trial credits and purchased credits are tracked separately and trial is always spent first, so a trial expiry can no longer consume paid credits.
1.3.0 — 20 July 2026
- One WebGL context per page. The background particle canvas was removed and its geometries, materials, listeners, and animation loop disposed on unmount. The homepage now holds exactly one context: the interactive 360° showcase.
- Asset grid moved to CPU rasterisation. Card previews are drawn on 2D canvases — rotated, depth-sorted, and Lambert-shaded — so six previews no longer compete for a browser's hard context limit. Triangle counts on the cards are read from the live geometry, so a label cannot drift from the model it describes.
- DPR clamped to 1.5 on mobile and 2 on desktop. Fill rate was the dominant cost on the Studio viewport; a 3× phone ratio quadrupled it for no legible gain.
- Environment lighting rebuilt with PMREM over a procedural softbox scene.Metal reads as metal without downloading an HDR, and it removed a third-party asset dependency.
1.2.0 — 3 July 2026
- Magic-link sign-in, joining Google and GitHub OAuth.
- Explicit legal consent is now required on every registration flow. The checkbox links directly to the Terms and the Privacy Policy, and sign-up is blocked until it is ticked.
- Guest allowance of 20 generations, held in local storage so the Studio is usable with no account at all.
- 50 trial credits on sign-up, expiring 15 days after the account is created. No card is required to start.
1.1.0 — 14 June 2026
- Deterministic seeding. A composite tag such as
Matrix#832identifies a model exactly. Pasting a tag back into the Studio recreates the same geometry, and the address bar is kept in step so any URL is a shareable link to what is on screen. - Zero-confusion seed input — one field for the word, with the variation shown as a live tag beside it, plus a dice button that rolls a fresh non-duplicating variation.
- OBJ export alongside GLB.
1.0.0 — 22 May 2026
- First public release. The superformula generator, the 360° showcase, the orbital viewer, and the GLB export.
Stability guarantees
Two things are treated as promises rather than implementation detail, and a change to either is announced in this changelog before it ships.
Seeds are stable. For a given generator, a given seed at a given quality produces the same geometry. If a change to an existing generator alters what a seed produces, it ships as a major version and the old behaviour stays available.
Error codes are stable. The code in an error body is part of the API contract. Message wording is not. Deprecations are announced here for at least two minor versions before a code is removed.
Anything not covered by these two promises — response headers beyond the documented set, the exact vertex layout within the flat arrays, material presets — may change in a minor release. Subscribe to the changelog and read it.
